After the TYC fiasco I was on the lookout for some headlights from a ’99+. I bookmarked Craigslist and had alerts on Ebay and Pick-n-Pull. This morning I got a text that Pick-n-Pull in Rancho had a new 2000 4Runner. I had no idea what condition it was in but figured I’d get out there ASAP and see for myself. What could go wrong?
I asked the gal at the front desk where I could find the new arrival and she told me “everyone’s been asking about that 4Runner“. I was already there so I took a look anyway. It had been picked pretty clean but much to my surprise, the headlights were still intact so I pulled them out before someone else showed up.

I was hoping to grab some grill clips for my spare parts collection but the grill was already gone. One less thing for me to remove.
The black plastic housing was cracked on one but I figured I could just swap with my existing housings. Thanks to T4R.org I’d already picked up some new rubber boots for a ’99.

I’m still thinking about doing Jerod’s headlight upgrade from T4R.org but it’s already a great improvement.
What went wrong? They charged me $40 for the headlight assemblies. Later that day, after I got the lights swapped, I found an email from Pick-n-Pull: All headlights, $10 – tomorrow through Sunday.
