Used ’99 Talls

Performed: March 13, 2022

I’d been thinking the ACDelco coils were a bit too beefy for the back. I thought it rode a little rough over manhole covers and the like.

I saw someone on FB Marketplace selling coils from a ’99. I was weary because FB but I’d been on the lookout for ’99s. I was prepared to offer him $30 but was still hesitant. He came and said he’d just give ’em to me. It was only a 12 minute drive so I figured what the hell, I’d give ’em a try. What could go wrong?

What went wrong? They looked maybe a hair taller than my old coils, which I’m still not sure what those were. Since I replaced the rear shocks and coils at the same time I had nothing to reliably compare the ’99s to. They were definitely softer but at the same time the back end felt a bit loose. She definitely sat an inch lower than with the ACDelcos. I ended up putting the ACDelcos back in on April 10, 2022. They feel wonderful now with the new Toyo tires.
