Power Antenna Switch

Performed: July 31, 2021

After having to replace the antenna that was lost in the “free” car wash I decided to install a switch so I could lower the antenna at will. My Alpine 172BT head unit supplies power to the antenna as long as the unit is on. If I’m listening to BT, CD or USB audio I certainly don’t need the antenna. Now if I ever decide to go through another car wash I can still listen to something other than the brutal whipping of the wash itself.

  • I’ve been here before.
  • Splice into the antenna wire.
  • Route the wire through the dash.
  • Looks like it belongs there!
