The old radiator didn’t appear to have any problems but without knowing how old it was I decided to replace it.
I had both hoses, water pump and thermostat replaced when the timing belt was done. I discovered later that the clown didn’t use OEM parts and had to replace the thermostat. I’m just hoping the timing belt and water pump don’t give me any surprises.
This is when I discovered Maita Toyota had the same prices as Camelback but without the shipping charges.

I decided to go with OEM instead of upgrading to some stainless model I’d read about that might take some custom effort to install.
I’m not sure where the red came from in the first drain but subsequent drains were all green.

It didn’t occur to me to flush the system before installing the new radiator. I’ll remember this next time!
Next time I’ll also just pull the petcock and rig something to catch the fluid. Each drain took over an hour. Everything burped fine and there were no leaks so I’ll call that a win.
