Alternator Brushes

258,496 Miles

Performed: March 31, 2023

With a trip to Portland, Boise and back next month it seemed prudent to replace the alternator brushes. All signs pointed to it being the original alternator.

I was a bit concerned because I’d used the wrong torque spec when I reinstalled the alternator during the timing belt job. This nut would only spin. Nothing I tried got it any closer to being removed.

I ended up cutting off the nut with a Dremel after I’d found replacement adjustment parts at Elk Grove Toyota.

I bet I would’ve been fine but at least now I don’t have to wonder.

Reinstallation went without issue and she was charging strong.
