Aft O2 Sensor Replacement

258,880 Miles

Performed: April 28, 2023

A lot of people only replace the forward sensor preemptively as the aft sensor is rumored to have no effect on mileage. I say “rumored” because I haven’t yet come across any definitive explanation of both their roles.

At any rate, I replaced the forward sensor a few days ago and the aft sensor showed up today. This was a bit easier to get access and gave me zero trouble. I again used some 1,000 grit to clean things up and also used new stainless nuts and lock washers. I took fewer pictures this time because it’s simply boring. But I should have at least taken one of the clean mounting surface.
