After watching too many videos where Timmy used his Harbor Freight 20 ton shop press for jobs I expected to be on my horizon, I decided I needed one of my very own. I didn’t want to spend $250 on a new press so I kept my eyes on Ebay, FB Marketplace and Craigslist hoping to find a used model for a decent price. I’d seen plenty of 12 ton presses listed around $150 but from what I’d read on T4R.org I’d need the 20 ton for at least the rear axle seals.

Eventually I found one on Craigslist that had been listed less than an hour and they were only asking $80.

So I drove straight to West Sacramento at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and wedged it in the back of the 4Runner.

After getting it moved into the garage I realized the sides had been assembled backwards and the bottom support between the legs wouldn’t fit.

On November 2, 2021 the press kit I ordered from Ebay arrived. I decided it was time to “rebuild” the press as I had planned on testing it out with the rear lateral control rod bushings (panhard bar) the next day.
