Lower Ball Joints

248,285 Miles

Performed: June 5, 2021

While under the truck I noticed the left LBJ boot was cracked and leaking grease.

After doing some research and becoming worried about the collateral damage a failure might cause I decided to replace them. Dealer quoted me $900 or so. I spent about $450 on tools and $225 on parts. I was prepared. What could go wrong?

I must have watched Timmy’s video 9 times. I was needlessly worried. Turns out with the right tools and no rust it wasn’t any more difficult than changing spark plugs. The left side took maybe 90 minutes as I was being extremely cautious. The right side took about 30 minutes.

The outer tie rod ends needed to be replaced too but that’s for another day.
