Fan Clutch, Wiring Check & Oil Change

258,368 Miles

Performed: March 26, 2023

I had some Amazon credit so I decided to replace the fan clutch as I think temps should be hovering a bit lower than the 194 I’ve been seeing. Before the timing belt job I was seeing a solid 192. At least that’s what I thought I was seeing. Apparently when I clocked the jiggle valve it was at 194. Either way, I have a new fan clutch now.

Bottom line, it was a quick swap.

Had to search for one of the nuts after I dropped it. Took longer to find the nut than the rest of the job. Amazing how far those fuckers get.

The trans temp gauge will only save the color I set about 25% of the time. I decided to tear the dash apart and triple-check the wiring. I fixed 2 connections that weren’t up to my current standard but it made no difference. Tonight I discovered there’s a 1 year warranty on the gauge. Hopefully they’ll replace it.

Changed the oil because it’d been 6 months. Only 2,000 miles but it was time. I’ll grease all the zerks before I leave for Portland and Idaho in May.
