Power Steering Fluid Flush

Performed: July 3, 2022

This was the only fluid I hadn’t changed. It was time.

Removed return line and ran it to an empty pitcher. Plugged return tube in reservoir. Continuously filled the reservoir while engine ran until fresh fluid was coming out in the pitcher.

Drained and removed the reservoir to clean the filter inside. Went through over 2 cans of brake cleaner. Nearly no light visible through filter before. Looked very clear after.

I also cleaned the MAF sensor. Neither seemed to make a noticeable difference but at least I got the peace of mind.

Saw a light coating of oil inside the air intake but nowhere else. I figure at nearly 255,000 miles it must be “normal”.
