Oil Dipstick O-Ring

Performed: November 8, 2021
Dry, brittle and flattened.

While trying to track down an oil leak it was suggested on T4R.org that I replace the oil dipstick o-ring.

There was some oil pooling adjacent to where the dipstick enters the pan so I figured it was worth a shot. What could go wrong?

Dye in the oil clearly shows some pooling.

Before & After

  • Dry, brittle and flattened.
  • I expected a tighter fit.

What went wrong? It wasn’t the cause of the leak but at least now I know it’s taken care of.

Part #96721-19010 $2.21 w/ tax

UPDATE: This was by no means the source of the oil leak I was trying to locate.
